Thank you for taking my comments in the spirit in which I gave them. It impresses me that upon using Blade, you spoke with an actual Black man who is also in the comics industry as well. I'm not convinced many writers do such things...

It's quite exciting that Blade will be with MI-13, and I wonder if this will perhaps mean the return of Dai Thomas. I also can't wait to see how Dr. Hussain works with any of the MI-13 characters, since she's a doctor who will end up working with so many people who have killed others.

I enjoyed Wesley Snipes' portrayal of Blade -- IMO the movie did a great deal more for Blade than the comics did at the time. His Blade movies were very good, yet even they weren't free of the baggage many Black characters carry in Hollywood and comics. Fabian Nicieza also used the movie version of Blade in his Gambit series a few years back.

Blade's origins are very much based on quite a few very interesting stereotypes. It's to the point that out of respect -- since this is not my forum -- I won't and can't list them all outright. However, given an independent writer like yourself who does great research, I eagerly look forward to what you will do with Blade's past, present and future.

Thanks very much. This is serious stuff, and I try and treat it seriously. I did have some chats with an African-American comic writer friend of mine on the way in to the whole MI-13 bit, which incidentally touched on Blade. I leave him nameless because he's not to blame for mistakes I then make. I'm interested to hear you say that Blade can be a stereotype: I think he's driven by his calling, the nearest character I can't think of being Solomon Kane, the puritan monster fighter. I find the Wesley Snipes portrayal, which surely the actor had a great deal of say in, to be great fun, so we're going to build on that, with some of the depth comics can give you. But I must say, I didn't think he was particularly broken. Please get back to me when you see how I've done, and let me know what you think. The negative notes will be just as welcome as the positive. Cheers.

Thank you for this forum and for the work that you do. I hope you feel better from your accident. You are one of the sole reasons I still collect new comics right now.

It's not my intention to seem "high handed" with my following comments, but I feel concern on how many of Marvel's characters are getting portrayed these days, especially many of it's Black characters.

I'm not sure what made you decide on consulting actual Muslim women to depict Dr. Faiza Hussain, but I think the spirit behind such a choice is very considerate and well-meaning. My question is: since you are such a thorough writer, when you include Blade on your team, do you also plan to consult actual Black men on his portrayal, especially since Blade has such stereotypical origins and depictions?

I look forward to see how Dr. Hussain and Blade interact with each other -- they seem as if they're from different planets. I also can't wait until issue #5. The choice of Blade on the team really shocked me.

New here, but more Congrats Mr Cornell. Haven't felt this excited about a new comic in a long time. A really diverse set of personalities you have to play with - I'm expecting the friction between them to lead to good & crazy things (unless you kill Dane - I know he is of colonial stock but he's such a complex character)

And.....forgive me if this has already come up but any chance of giving Leonard a break for a couple of issues and have Alan Davis return to the Captain (I know he doesn't like to be tied to the character but I'd love to see his take on the new costume.....)

Thanks. It's hard to earn a living as a writer of prose. Indeed, many established names in that field have day jobs. But then again, a writer of bestseller novels earns more than any other sort of writer (apart from perhaps the writer of the book of a long running musical). It's easier to earn a good living as a TV writer. It is, of course, very hard to become any sort of professional writer, but a living is, in the end, here to be made. And glad I've started some sort of bug there. Cheers.

I Just have to say reading your first two issues of CB MI13 has re-ignited my long dead interest in comics.

Before reading all I had on order from comic stores was the new Flash Gordon strip – and that was more out of a sense of let down from the awful TV series the SciFi Channel did last year – and part out of curiosity to see what changes the new writer would make from the Alex Raymond strips which I got hold of 4 or 5 years ago in book form because I was curious.

Since reading your first two issues - and with issue 3 and your first issue of the four issue run of Fantastic Four - on its way.

I've been looking at other things that nabbed my interest.

I’ve pre ordered a copy of Alan Moores new League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen strip, which is going to be three books I think.

Also pre ordered the new Buck Rogers comic - just to see how dynamite comics writers handle the origin story. I will probably only stick with that for a couple of stories.

Also ordered the new Dresden comic strip - because I'm curious to see if they will do Jim Butchers first book justice. I’m a huge fan of the book series – TV series was okish too – couldn’t hold a candle to the books though.

So Paul you 'ave a lot to answer for corrupting a young impressionable gent like me with these subversive comics about heroes and john Lennon and stuff.

If I start donning Lycra and helping old ladies cross the road and get arrested I will have to plead insanity and say I was influenced by the writings of Paul Cornell.

Just imagine it will be in the Sun and everything - the proper papers would probably ignore something like that lol.

Wow, looks like everything is all go! Didn't know where else to post it, but wanted to say that I would have quite like you taking over at the helm of DW on the tv. Know you're quite busy enough as it is, but I like the feel of your stories, what can I say. Also, I've been hearing from many many quarters that it's almost impossible to earn enough money to live off as a writer, unless you get a big advance of a London publisher or some such. If this is so then what's the secret, as you seem to be getting on okay. All I keep hearing is doomsday stories! Oh, and also, I posted ages ago after your DW story in the Telegraph, as I thought the magazine I write for was going to interview you, but it seems that went on hold. It was Primary Life, and I don't know if I'll be the one to do the honours, but if the chance comes round again I hope the Editor may think of me. Altho I might just end up quoting bits of your eps and novels back to you, but still I'd have a few questions in there I'm sure!

So a guy that's been resurrected two times that he knows about. He knows what death feels like, but it's never been final. Other stuff has gone down, but the taking of his life probably trumps any 10 of them. Is he basically immortal, will Merlyn snatch him back every time? That's something heavy to deal with. I find it interesting.

Brian's been killed and resurrected /three/ times, now. The first time was in Steve Parkhouse's Black Knight / Captain Britain run in Hulk Comic, second time was during Alan Moore's Captain Britain run, and the third time was this one. Each time Brian's died, Merlin's been the one to bring him back.

Brian doesn't remember the second death, though - he thinks Merlin transported him away at the last minute.

It's been a long time for Brian since those first two deaths, and he's been through a lot since. I think if anything, we'll just be seeing the effects of this latest resurrection.

I'd like to know how Michael, Gabriel, and Nigel Orphyngton Smith and other RCX dudes fit into the MI-13 hierarchy.

I like Meggan and would like her back, but not for awhile. I actually really liked the way Cap took it when she was lost to the cosmos or whatever that was, a sad resignation but still you get a hint that he's sure to see her again.

Everyone. I've just gotten issue one and two of MI13 and still waiting on issue three which is saved for me.

Anyway to cut to the chased I loved it. Got to the end of issue two and just found myself wanting more -- the fall of the magic realm - damn.

As to the skrull disguised as John Lennon - I'm sort of taking that as a joke. Especially loved the bit where refferences Frankie Goes To Hollywood and a few other British Bands when asking the skrull what he can fight with.

Anyway am going to have to read through them both again when I can catch a breath - and maybe do a review on them at Scifipulse.net - am not used to reviewing comics - do not know about the artist to well so I will have to play to my strenghs which is story.

BTW I'm wondering if any of your guys would be interested in volinteering as a writer for scifipulse.net - specifically I'm looking for someone to help me develop the comic book news section.

Idealy I'm looking to try and strike a good balance between TV, Movie and Comic Book news. But were only interested in comics that have a science fiction and fantasy feel too them.

Congrats on yet another sellout Paul! I just finished my ordering for Captain Britain #5, and we're up to 50 copies per month, which normally leaves 2 copies left for the back issue bins. And just of note - Diamond Comics is sold out of all printings of issues 1 and 2. At this rate Marvel will end up doing a compilation reprinting issues 1-3. :) And may I be the first here to applaud Marvel for doing second and third printings? Sure it's a Secret Invasion tie-in story, but it's definitely the story and art that have caused Marvel to keep it available!
