Pulse Fan Page and Spitfire

Pulse now has an official Facebook fan page, with many new cast photos, and links to all the previews and reviews that are out there already. If you're on Facebook, take a look here.

EDIT: That link should now work internationally.

Spitfire #1 is out in August! It's a one-shot, part of the Women of Marvel event, and it details the covert op Jac and Blade are running in New York while the rest of MI-13 are attending Steve Rogers' reception (as shown in Age of Heroes #1, which is out tomorrow in the States, Thursday in the UK, volcanic ash clouds permitting). The artist on Spitfire is the wonderful Elena Casagrande, and this lovely cover -

- is by Jenny Frison. Cheerio!

That Pulse Facebook link isn't working for me; it just keeps redirecting to the homepage.

    Anyone else having this problem?

  • ElvenBrit Says:

This is good news about Spitfire, it would be sad to see her disapear into obscurity, like so many Brit heroes have in the past, and then appear as cameo's in other titles.
All we need you to do now, Paul is ressurect Slaymaster, with a decent costume, and become Cap's main adversary... and so I awake from my dream state, dreaming of more Brit characters involved in mainstream Marvel titles... oh-hum!

  • Teresa Says:

Ditto on the FB fanpage. Also, I looked up Pulse's fan page on there and couldn't find one.

That Spitfire cover is GORGEOUS. Very much looking forward to it.

But WHERE'S MY FAIZA ONE-SHOT, CORNELL?! I know, I know. You're "busy." With "ridiculously successful projects." Whatever.

    ;)

  • Paul Cornell Says:

I've just added an alternative route to the fan page, and asked the guy who set up the page to look into that. Let me know if that works. EB: you know there's a new Slaymaster of sorts in Rob's Deadpool Team-Up? And Ter, I dream of a Faiza one-off!

  • ElvenBrit Says:

Thanks for that tease Paul, Me thinks I might have to take a trip to Forbidden Planet to pick up the Deadpool Team-up with Cap, and the age of heroes at the Weekend, another train journey, but one that'll be worth it, i'm sure.

  • paulf Says:

    That link still doesn't work.

The page is there, as I can see posts from it here...

But when I click the links it just redirects me to the home page. Is it limited to UK people or something like that maybe? I'm in Ireland.

  • Paul Cornell Says:

I'm wondering if that's what it is. I've left messages for the web chap, so I'll hopefully have some news in the morning. Sorry!

  • Paul Cornell Says:

And incidentally, I really hate it that Facebook have set up some kind of site for me, that looks like I might have some involvement in it, with my picture at the top, when actually that's the first time I've seen it. I keep Facebook for people I know really well, I don't use it as a promo tool for my own name, but it seems that Facebook aren't satisfied with that.

  • Teresa Says:

Don't fret about the other page. It could be that someone started a fan page for you! All the cool kids have one, and everyone knows they're not "official."

Yes, you're one of the cool kids now. Can you STAND it?! :)

  • govikes Says:

About that Faiza one-shot, how about including the Black Knight?(Please)

  • Ian Cullen Says:

    Look forward to spitfire comic.

I just posted the follow by way of a bit of a promo piece. Hope you don't mind, I quoted you a little. As well as copy and pasted the Marvel solicitation:)

Glad to have the site back up again.

BTW I should have my advance review of Pulse posted sometime tomorrow. I've made it a very spoiler free review and just gone over what I thought in broad strokes, without giving away to much story beyond doing a brief outline of what its about:)

I basically want to read it through and check that am happy with it before I post.

As to Facebook. I keep it for friends and promo purposes. But I'm slowly moving more toward my twitter account, because its quick and you don't get people inviting you to play Mafia Wars or to see their farm on Farmville.

    Ian

  • Ian Cullen Says:

@Paul and Teresa: I'd like to see a Faiza trade paper back.

I mean she has to be potentially your Bernice Summerfield character for a marvel. A sleeping character just bursting to get out onto the page.

I really loved that it was her that got to wield Excalibur.

  • Teresa Says:

SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ "Age of Heroes" #1....

So...Captain Britain is an Avenger now?! For REALSIES?! REALLY-REALLY?! :) I think I'm squeeing as much as Faiza was!

  • Ian Cullen Says:

Teresa: You just made me so happy that I added the avengers title to my list of things on order from Ltd Edition Comix. Am sort of picking up £40 at a time lol.

  • Teresa Says:

@Ian - well, I'd read Age of Heroes #1 first. Don't know that it'll be the kind of involvement that would make reading the title regularly worth it for you if you wouldn't have been reading it already...but who knows? Pete Wisdom DID begrudgingly agree to share him. :)

  • Ian Cullen Says:

@Paul: Here's a link to my review of Pulse. Not easy reviewing something without giving away spoilers. But in short I really loved it, and hope it goes to series.

@Teresa: "Pete Wisdom DID begrudgingly agree to share him. :)" This statement sounds like all kinds of wrong lol.

BTW this weekends radio show features an interview with Arthur Darvill aka Rory 'The new tin dog' from Doctor Who. Really nice bloke.

You can tune in or listen to the show once its archived at: http://bit.ly/chXCJ2

  • Brian Says:

A Faiza one-shot? Think you've nailed it, Teresa. My first reaction was, why not a trade? But these are characters that work so well together that you'd miss the ensemble if things went on for very long. A one-shot would be just right.

  • Teresa Says:

@Brian - actually, I think Faiza could hold up a 3-issue limited series or something, too. But you're right, nothing much longer than that. Not now, anyway.

I actually have an idea for a Faiza story that involves another Marvel character not in MI13 that I think would be really cool. One day, if anyone at Marvel ever cares who I am, I might even share it with someone. :)

  • Teresa Says:

By the way, compatriots in fandom (and sorry about hijacking this thread!) - if anyone can point me in the direction of women in the UK between the ages of 25-35 who identify as geek girls/fangirls/etc that I might interview for a thing I'm writing, that would be splendiferous! If you are one of them, or know one and can send them my way, please contact me via Twitter: @teresajusino.

There's no rush, as I'm doing very preliminary research at the moment, but I figured this would be a great place to ask! :) Thank you!

  • Alex Jamieson Says:

Hurried to the comic shop on my lunch break to pick up Heroic Age and loved it (despite the brevity).
Hopefully we'll see Brian (and maybe Dane) in one of the many Avengers titles now.

Spitfire looks great, and Jenny Frisson and Elena Casagrande are fantastic artists....someone at Marvel has clearly been keeping an eye on IDW's Angel titles!

Anyone know how I can express to Marvel how much I want to see the MI:13 characters regularly beyond just buying the books they're appearing in?

  • NĂ¡dia Says:

Hello sir, I'd love to interview you, is it possible? I think you can see my email, over there. :)

  • Paul Cornell Says:

Thanks for the Pulse review, Ian, it's been added to the collection at the Facebook fan page. Alex: a polite email to Marvel never goes amiss. Nadia: who do you work for? Often up for interviews, but right now, doing five a day, so it depends!

  • Ian Cullen Says:

Paul: Your welcome with regards to the review. I enjoyed the show, and was really hard pushed to write a review in such a way that I wasn't ruining it for those who haven't seen an advance screener like myself.

I've been playing catch up all week. Also done three interviews for forthcoming podcast episodes. The big one that am thrilled about is the Doctor Who related one I'll be running on Sunday. It was done on location at Brighten Beach. Well that's where Arthur was anyhow:) I was in my front room fighting for possession of my microphone with my cat.
