Moving Day

We're moving house today, so I'm going to be offline for several days. I'm not sure how emotional I'm going to get. We've had wonderful times here in Faringdon. I was reminded of them the other night when many of our local friends came to a party. All I can say is, we'll always come back here, we're not vanishing forever.

Last night was the cast and crew showing of Pulse, which looked even better on the big screen. Awesome director and cast. The screening was just round the corner from the Fitzroy Tavern, where I met the producers beforehand. While the first Thursday of the month Doctor Who related drinks were happening. I had to explain that this was where my tribe lived. Come on, let's have a series!

It's hard to wake up in the night surrounded by stacks of boxes and not imagine oneself in a cross between 2001: A Space Odyssey and Mean Streets. 'You're in Monolith territory now, kid!'

I'm going to do my best to say goodbye to the old place out loud. See you in the new house. Until then, Cheerio!

    Good luck!
I loathe moving and I've only done it once in 46 years.
    Piles of blinking boxes everywhere.

    Best of luck settling in.

If you're not sick of hearing about it, here's a complimentary account of your Gallifrey One panel:

Good luck with the move, Paul. I've never done it myself - been in the same house for my twenty-three years - but I can imagine the stress.

  • Mark Says:

Hope the move goes smoothly for you both. And your comics. And the rest.

I approve heartily of saying goodbye out loud to familiar haunts - although my beloved thinks I take it to extremes by saying "Thank you, room" at every hotel or B&B we've ever stayed in...

So London Who fans still meet on the first Thursday? Cool! When we left the One Tun and the different tribes went their different ways, for some reason it never occurred to me you guys would also carry on meeting then, though it's kind of obvious in retrospect. Of course, meeting on the same night means you're probably only going to go to one and there's less chance of crossovers, but you can't have everything.

Good luck with the move. Hope it is not as eventful for you as things were in that old Richard Pryer movie 'Moving'.

Look forward to seeing and hearing more about Pulse.

goodluck, I know that slightly sad feeling... but onward to new memories.

Lots of luck with the move, Paul. It's always sad saying goodbye to an old home - I still miss my family home (the one I grew up in, the one where I spent my youth watching Doctor Who, now referred to as the Classic era).

    Good times!!!

    Oh well...

New memories are always good though, a fresh start and all that...

    Ah, moving... good luck!
When I did it few years ago, I had box around the place for months and months (and, 7 long years later, something has never left them) I still remembre how I had to use the as a table in the livingroom because the table- one of the few new things we bought - wasn't ready (we moved in november, and it arrived in January...): we even missed the door who had to divide the kitchen from the rest of the place, but, as soon as we moved there, we got, first thing first, a dog!
Moving il always a mess - it's said to be one of the most traumatic experiences in life - but it helps to make new memories...

OK, since you're using "moving" as an excuse to not update your blog (harumph!), I'm going to talk about the final issue of Dark X-Men here. :)

Um, WOW. I was not expecting that ending at all. Pack your bags, X-Villains, we're going on a guilt trip!

Great work, Paul. I love how you cut to the emotional heart of things. Even with regard to superheroes and silliness. :)

Thanks, everyone. Back online now, finally! Aunt: I took a look. Glad that worked out so well. I never actually got to say goodbye to the old house, because I didn't realise it was my last trip out! Rob: yes, it's been at the Fitzroy Tavern since I was a young fan. We're really enjoying the new place, not missing the old house at all, just the people of our old town. Teresa: thanks, I was really pleased with it.
