Loads of Links

I've staggered back to my desk, and have been working hard prior to heading off to the Redemption convention in Coventry tonight (three cons in three weekends: arrgggh!)  I'm planning on a Gallifrey convention report soon (with photos), but straight away want to thank someone for the kindest gesture of the event: a lady gave us a (signed!) CD by Over the Rhine, to replace the one we lost in the car crash!  If you are that person, please pop up in the comments section, because I made a note of your name and then lost it!  Sorry!  Loads more cool stuff from Gally to come.

Meanwhile, however, I now have too many links not to post.  So here we go.  First up, my short story 'Catherine Drewe' is up for a Locus Award (that is to say, it appeared on the magazine's recommended reading list and has therefore been plonked into contention), but because of the way Locus' technology counts words, it's listed on the drop down menu in the Novelette category:

If you've read it and liked it, why not check out some of the competition and then see if it's worthy of your vote.  Cheers.

At the New York Comic Con, I recorded a couple of interviews.  Firstly, here's the Mighty Marvel Podcast:

And here's me on video for Newsarama:

Here's me answering reader questions for X-Position:

And Tim Stevens has a regular feature called Psych Ward where he analyses a comic book character, and this time deals with Spitfire.  I think Jac would have a thing or two to say about his conclusions:

And here's a wide-ranging CBR interview:

And last but by no means least, here’s Wired magazine on Cap’s adventures on Twitter:

And that’s it!  Phew.  That stuff does build up if you leave it.  Gally pictures, gossip, and even more links next time, and now, back to the work!  Cheerio!

    Hi Paul,

Where can I get hold of some of your short stories? I'm currently based in LA for the foreseeable future.. Are they on Amazon??

Give the UK my love. I'm missing it..!

    Alison

  • Richard Says:

Paul you must be overwhelmed with people requesting appearances of characters and storylines.

Though i think it is a real testament to how many quality characters have ties to this side of the pond and how many interesting stories are left untold.

Im hoping the sparks of interest CB & MI-13 will lead Marvel to consider giving more panel time to the British part of the Marvel Universe. Much like how we got the wonderful Christos Gage Union Jack mini from UJ's and Spitfire's appearance in Captain America.

Fingers-crossed!!.. but if that doesnt happen maybe we all can twist Marvel's arm enough to get a "MI-13: Files" profile book

The direct link to the Wired blog post is http://blog.wired.com/underwire/2009/02/marvels-captain.html , for when it scrolls off the main page.

    Paul-

I am a huge fan of your work, and as well a follower of Captain Britain's twitter (give him my best please.)

What are the chances you would be willing to do a brief 5-question email/interview for my fledgling blog? No worries about bad press--only my parents read it.

Let me know if youre interested. Hope the convention(s) is fun.

    Best,
    Captain Elias

Don't think Jac would have to discuss just a couple of things about her "examination" by Stevens on Marvel.com... These days, an old lady can't even have a story, that they immediately calls her a vampire... same people is so not open-minded... :)

  • J.R. LeMar Says:

FYI: I'm the man that Sam Stone introduced you to briefly, while you were rushing to the bathroom. I appreciate you taking the time to snap a photo with me, under the circumstances. I posted it on Millarworld, and told everyone how nice you seemed to be.

Hmm, just read a bunch of interviews and was interested to see the Enchantress in your YOUNG AVENGERS series is the actual Enchantress. Given how she was the last time we saw her, in the recent THOR: GOD SIZE, I'm particularly intrigued to see how she handles being in a team with someone calling himself the Executioner.

Alison: you can find short stories from me in the Fast Forward 2, Eclipse 2 and Solaris Book of New SF 3 anthologies, all available from all good bookstores, including Amazon. Click on the link on the right of the blog to get the latter. And my short story from the first is available online at the Pyr Books website. Ta! Richard: that'd be good. Liz: thanks. Cap: quite possibly, let me know how I can contact you. JR: sorry I was in such a rush! Rob: I didn't say that. Cheers, all.

  • Captain Elias Says:

CaptElias at gmail.com My schedule's as flexible as Plastic Man and im a fan of no pressure situations, so...no pressure.

  • Anonymous Says:

Paul: Yes, you're right. That bit about the Enchantress was in an interview the artist gave on newsarama. My bad.

Glad you got the CD replaced. Someday you should come out to hear the Over the Rhine Christmas Concert at the Taft Theatre in CInci Ohio.

BTW- the Captain Britain Trade gets shelved next to Charles WIlliams' Books- I try to group Author's thematically! I don't know if WIlliams read comics- but I bet he has been enjoying your stories in the Life after Life after Death!

  • Alison Says:

    Thanks, dude.

  • Paul Cornell Says:

    Charles Williams, eh? Good company.

  • max Says:

Just wanted to say that I have been reading your blog for a while.
Human Nature is my favourtie Doctor Who story of the new series and because of that I decided to read Captain Britain and MI 13 when it came out, which is the first comic that I purchase monthly(i.e not in tradebacks)
    Thank you for you storytelling.
    max

  • Blossom Says:

    Hi!

I've just finished reading "Human Nature", and I just wanted to let you know I thought it was wonderful! I want to be a writer myself, and I was very upset to discover you'd written something so good at the age of 27 when I'm already 25 and still writing a lot of drivel! Ah well - practice, practice!

    Grace :-)

  • Paul Cornell Says:

Thanks very much, you two. And indeed, Blossom, practice!
