My Worldcon Schedule
The good people at Denvention in Denver (August 6th-10th) have plonked me on quite a few panels, across which my knowledge level varies wildly, but that's the joy of it.
Post-apocalypic fiction: why is it such a big draw? Wed 13:00
The Greatest Villains in SF. Wed 16:00
Does Science Fiction Matter? How does it impact the world and our future? Thur 10:00
Shakespeare's themes in SF. Fri 10:00
Levers in the Time Stream: the most Change for the Least Effort. Fri 14:30
Doctor, Doctor, Who's the Best Doctor? Sun 10:00
I'm very much looking forward to them. Especially that juicy Shakespeare one. And shall make sure to do my revision.
Also, on the Friday at 9.00, I’ll be joining a daily event they’re calling ‘Stroll with the Stars’, where myself, Pyr editor Lou Anders (who just sent me a copy of David Louis Edelman’s new novel, Multireal, bless him), artist John Picacio and Weird Tales editor Stephen H. Segal will be wandering around Denver with the host, Stu Segal, and a bunch of signed-up attendees. It’ll be good for the circulation.

A Stroll With the Stars...
Sounds cool.
What stars will be attending?
:P
Sorry, I just had to make the bad joke. I'm weak that way.
And have a good time in Denver, and in the Post-Apocalyptic fiction, tell people the only reason it's popular are the studded leather outfits.
That's the thing about failing to be self-effacing: someone else will always do it for you.
Speaking of Who's the best Doctor, do you know if we will be seeing a new one on Saturday?
Doctor Dave was regenerating - for good? Or only for a bit or not at all because they are in the Medusa cascade, where he has a bit of previous?
Glad to see they did put you on the Dr. Who panel on Sunday. Hopefully we will find out who will be on the panels with us.
As for what happens in the season finale, I'm sure whatever Paul knows about it he can't say under pain of death (or something like that....)
That was a bit of a long shot on the Captain's part, wasn't it? And yes, it'd be good to know who we're sharing panels with.
It was the longest of long shots, but if you tell me, I promise I won't tell!
OK, OK - maybe I'd tell a little, but only in a top secret code.
OK - I'd tell everyone I could like a big blabbermouthed fool.
I don't think the 10th Doctor is leaving. I think DT deserves a better regeneration scene than that, anyway. He deserves something big & emotional.
If I were at the convention in Denver, I would be one of those people coming up to you telling you how much I enjoy your writing. I appreciate your depth, the primal fears you seem to tap into effortlessly, the levity you bring to break the tensions... (I could go on).
I would also be one of those people with something in hand to try to get you to read (or listen to).
Actually, in this case, I believe you have listened to an earlier incarnation of this work.
Mark Kalita headed up a Doctor Who audio drama podcast at darkerprojects.com. I've been told that at some point, they received some kind words from you about their work.
Well, Mark is still playing the Doctor, but can now be heard over at www.brokensea.com/drwho and the format has changed to be more in line with the new series.
On iTunes, the link is http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=271282123
I am so keen to get you to listen because happenstance has granted me the opportunity to pen their entire season of Doctor Who.
Twenty years ago, I started out on a path to become a writer, but life intervened. Now, at the age of 40, I am striving once again toward a life of storytelling.
Any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and for all the wonderful stories.
Sincerely,
Steven Jay Cohen
Thank you, Steven. I may well wander over and take a look. Cheers.
As I am one of those Denver area residents, I do plan to attend. Sadly, the 'work thing' will prevent me from getting there before the weekend. But I will be quite interested in observing the panel on Who's The Best Doctor on Sunday.
In the meantime, Paul, I do hope you enjoy making good use of the downtown restaurant recommendations I gave you.

I certainly will, thanks for those, and do say hello. May I ask if you've used your Hugo vote? Less than a week to go!
Paul,
I have used my Hugo vote, and I'm confident there will be a Doctor Who victory. It was tough trying to decide between Human Nature and Blink, but it appears Mr. Moffat is standing up we Denverites just because of some (making quotation mark guestures with fingers) all important new job. The nerve!
;-)
I'll make a point of coming up and shaking your hand after the Who's the Best Doctor panel discussion
-Patrick
Those are interesting panels. Would you care to write about the panels after the convention?
Great, look forward to seeing you, and yes, I hope to do a convention report, as always, but I sometimes fail to do so!
