Fantastic Four: True Story
I'm very pleased to be able to announce that I'm the writer on a four part Fantastic Four miniseries, True Story, starting this July from Marvel Comics.
You may remember that mysterious page of comic artwork I put on the blog during The Twelve Blogs of Christmas. Well, that was from this project, which sees the FF entering the world of fiction and meeting classic literary characters. I'm very excited about this project, I've been itching to be able to talk about it, and now I can!
There's an interview about it, with a few pages of lovely Horacio Dominguez art here:

And there's another bit of art here, on the page of my editor, the mighty Tom:

Do check it out. Cheerio!

Are you trying to get me to spend all my hard earned (ha!) money on comics? I have a family to feed you know....
...but I don't think I've ever been so excited about a Fantastic Four story and I don't think I ever will be. Curses.
Congratulations!
Great idea for an FF story; this sounds like it's going to be excellent, I'm definitely picking it up.
Congratulations
(Is there going to be a little competition between you and Millar as to who can write the best FF book?)
That sounds great. Never actually read a fantastic Four comic before. This might have to be the first.
I highly recommend those of you that are new to the Fantastic Four to check out Jack Kirby's wonderful 102-issue run on the book, which is easily obtainable in all sorts of reprint formats (the black-and-white Marvel Essentials 1-5, two gorgeous gigantic colour Omnibus editions, Panini's inexpensive British "pocketbook" colour reprints, the Marvel Masterworks hardbacks, Marvel Digital Comics online... the list goes on). They really set the standard for superhero adventure comics. (For what it's worth, Paul's story sounds like one that, like the best of Kirby's, breaks new ground with the characters.)
And once you've plowed through those I equally recommend Mark Waid's run with the much-missed Mike Wieringo too.
Incidentally, here is why I'm not so convinced of Tom Brevoort's might... ;)

Excellent news, I'll keep an eye out! Been a long-time reader of FF4. I'll sure you'll bring a great perspective to it.

Fantastic news! Damn, that wasn't a pun, I promise. We'll definitely be getting that in!
Good luck with it :)

Rock on you!
No doubt my local comic shop will gladly take my paltry American dollars in exchange for your comic-book goodness.

And two pages from Young Avengers Presents #4, out next month!

Ah-ha! So that's what the artwork was from.
Looks very interesting. Between y'self, and Messrs Millar and Hitch, you might actually get me reading Fantastic Four, again.
I have to say the art and colours look pretty stand-out, as well.
That material looks awesome. Thanks for the links!
Oh, on another topic, after my usual Saturday overdose of DW/TW, the nightcap turned out to be an unexpected surprise. My local PBS is airing S1, and instead of the Empty Child, as was listed, they showed Father's Day!
I hadn't seen it in a long time and I must say I enjoyed it more this time. Also, they air the DWC after the program and got to see your interview, the most articulate and insightful thing on that one.
Father's Day was a good reminder, esp. after watching Fires of Pompeii, earlier, how dodgy those timey wimey rules are. Great work!

Wow, congratulations! Sounds kind of like the core story of Warren Ellis' Planetary, but punchy and actually finished for flip's sake. And potentially a lot more entertaining. In your bearded face, Ellis!
That is AWESOME. And you are playing havoc with my desire to stop reading comics too...
Thanks very much all. Just popping in between two trips, hope to blog before I'm off again!
New to reading your blog but I think the Fantastic Four story idea is brilliant! I can't wait to see it unfold. When is the next issue coming out?
I'm not sure if I'm going yet but Where and What day are you going to be at the NYCC? Are you going to be selling some Doctor Who books along with your promotion of Captain Britain or not?
Welcome! The first issue's out in July. I'm going to be wandering about in NY, so do say hello if you run into me!
