The Vision Thing

After yesterday's enormous blog, I'll keep this brief. I'm delighted to say that, as was announced at Baltimore Comic Con on Saturday, I'm going to be writing the fourth issue of a five issue miniseries from Marvel Comics, each of which spotlights a different member of the Young Avengers. My issue concerns The Vision. The series starts in January. I'm particularly glad to be doing this, because I'm very fond of these characters, as I believe many of you are also, and I got along famously with their creator, Allan Heinberg, when we met at the Bristol Comics Expo earlier this year. I recently asked him what he'd like me to do, and we've been chatting about the plot for the issue. I'm also very pleased to be sharing a miniseries with writers of the calibre of Ed Brubaker, Brian Reed and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. I'm having such a good time at Marvel. I hope you like the series when you see it. Cheerio!

That's awesome. I'm excited to see that you're doing comics outside of just the UK-centric ones as well.

  • Mark Clapham Says:

Lovely! Very happy to see more 'Young Avengers', even without Allan and Jim Cheung, and this looks like a good mix of creators. Great to see you spreading yourself further around the Marvel universe!

  • Paul Cornell Says:

Thanks very much, I'm really looking forward to it.

  • The Sword is Drawn Says:

Sounds like a very interesting project. I look forward to it.

  • Paul Cornell Says:

Thank you. And for your support on the forum.

  • Lou Anders Says:

Hey Paul, have you read Jonathan Lethem's short story about the Vision?

  • Paul Cornell Says:

No. I must have a look. Where can I find it?

  • Lou Anders Says:

I saw it in an Tin House anthology, but I believe it's in his recent collection, Men and Cartoons. He also writes about the Vision briefly here:

The anthologies/collected story, however, is well worth checking out.

  • Paul Cornell Says:

Thanks, Lou, I'll check that out.

Hi there! Hope you don't mind me asking this via your blog, but I'm just in the process of backing up my tapes of Wavelength to DVD, and wondered if you have any list of episode titles and writers for the second series, as I appear to be missing a couple of episodes.

  • Martin Fisher Says:

    Hi Paul,

Here's the first story of the DW Fragments project that I mentioned on one of your previous posts. Hope you like what you see. There will be more to come with other Doctor's, their companions and maybe the odd villian or two.

Just came across mention of you on the Faringdon website. I'm the editor of a local magazine Community Times In The Vale (www.ctinthevale.co.uk) and every month I run A Day in the Life of .... where a local "celebrity" tells us what they enjoy and what goes on in their life. So far it's featured local author Eliza Graham, artist Dawn Benson and Ed Vaizey, MP. It would be great to do the feature with you, and if you've got any review copies of one of your books to hand, I could also run some reviews - so you get a good plug too! There are some standard questions (Interests, career so far, favourite local shop etc) but it's open for you to add in anything else you'd like people to know.

Anyway, if you're interested (and I really hope you are!) drop me a line at editor@ctinthevale.co.uk . Hope to hear from you soon!

My old Wavelength tapes are in the loft, and I can't find anything online. I know that I wrote 1-3 and 6 of season two, but I can't remember the names of the two other writers! Can anyone help? Martin: good to see you're plugging away. Alison: I'll be in touch.

    Congratulations Paul!
